Working with Slices in Photoshop
When I save Slices via 'Save for web devices', in PS, the resulting images have no file extention but seem to be image files. I can open in Windows Gallery Viewer and see them however, they have no icon other than a blank page icon, not the usual png or jpg types.
To resolve this I've manually added .png and .jpg to the those blank images via their file names. This seems to work fine for resolving jpgs. Additionally, when saving slices via 'Save for web devices' I choose the following and manually imput to second field: .png or jpg. This results in the file names having .jpg but not .png [both png12 and png24]
When saving slices:
1. choose file type
2. save
3. within Save Panel: choose:
a) image only
b) Selected slices [or User slices- as seem to have similar results]
c) in Settings: Other:
i) turn off: copy background image and create image folder
ii) for file nameing use: Slice name and in second field add file extention: .jpg or png.
PNG FILES
I seem to have problems importing any .png file created from Slices via 'Save for web devices' method, back into PS and Fireworks. However, I do seem to be able to import them into Illustrator and Indd.
What I would like to do is to be able to create both JPG and PNG files from Slices and follow the 'Save via web devices' method without having to become an expert in all the options in the Save Panel. And then be able to import them into Fireworks or back into Ps.
Is there anything in Preferences that needs address, or is there a bug of sumfink?
